Let it Snow

SNOW! THE WORLD IS GOING TO END!!!!!!111!!

I can't imagine how this country survived in the deep winters of old.  Tales of how the Thames used to freeze over, deep snow drifts, frosts setting in for months.

Oh I can.  The people who lived here weren't either lazy, opportunist skivers, or wimps.

I'm not getting at the councils not gritting the roads enough (there are limits to how much can be done, and how much we should prepare a capability for a fairly freak event and I can deal with that), or the elderly having to burn books to keep warm (They don't have enough money on the state pension all year round, and don't eat well enough during the summer as they are skint, this is just another example of poverty).  I'm getting at the fact that given the snow, people have a tendancy to throw their hands in the air and squeal about problems, because they haven't made plans either through ignorance or deliberately.

Tomorrows snow has been forecast all week.  If you were at work today, and could have taken work home tonight but didn't, shame on you if you can't make it in tomorrow and try take it off unpaid.

This may of course just be bitterness as I live so close to work I'll almost certainly be in (early) so have no excuse...
